Warrior Welcome: New Staff Hired for the New School Year

Join us as we give a warm Warrior Welcome to this group of new staff - teachers, intervention specialists, custodians, special education aides, secretaries, and a food service worker! 

  • Lauren Barnes, Science Teacher, Lebanon High School - For Lauren Barnes teaching is a second career. Prior to coming to the field of education, she worked as an environmental geologist. She will be a science teacher at Lebanon High School this coming school year. Mrs. Barnes earned a master's degree in teaching from Miami University. She has served as a substitute teacher since 2019 and completed her student teaching at Lakota Liberty Junior School and Lakota East High School. She has a bachelor's of science degree from Miami University and a master's of science degree from Purdue University. As a second-career teacher, she wishes to share her knowledge and passion for science with students, to engage them in relevant and memorable learning experiences. She lives in Trenton with her husband, Matthew. They enjoy spending time with friends and family, exploring the outdoors, traveling, and watching sporting events.

  • Zachary Bell, Custodian, Donovan Elementary

  • Jamie Buchert, Secretary to the Director of Business, Central Office - Mrs. Buchert has held various roles in our district for 10 years: she has worked as a substitute teacher, an aide, a secretary, and most recently, as the district's COVID tracer last school year. She is now the secretary to the Director of Business Scott Butler. Mrs. Buchert earned a bachelor's degree from Miami University and a master's degree from Wheelock College in Boston, Massachusetts. She lives in Lebanon with her husband and two children, Kelsey, incoming senior, and Cole, incoming sophomore.

  • Kyla Bush, Special Education Aide, Bowman Primary

  • Michelle Callaway, Intervention Specialist, Bowman Primary - Michelle comes to Bowman Primary with six years of teaching experience. Most recently she taught at Taylor Elementary in Northwest Local Schools for three years - she worked in a self-contained classroom with students in grades kindergarten through fifth. Before that she worked as a fourth grade intervention specialist at Mt. Healthy's South Elementary School. She began her career at Mt. Healthy Junior High as a reading intervention specialist. She graduated from Mason High School and earned her degree as an Intervention Specialist from Bowling Green State University. Michelle got married this summer. She lives in Morrow with her husband and their two cats, Misty and Dash. They enjoy watching and attending Cincinnati sports, especially the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and UC Bearcats football and basketball. 

  • Scott Campbell, Custodian, Donovan Elementary

  • Angela Davidson, Special Education Aide, Bowman Primary

  • Heather Franks, Intervention Specialist, Bowman Primary - Mrs. Franks comes to Lebanon with 14 years of experience as an intervention specialist in preschool, kindergarten, and middle school. She will be working with our littlest Warriors in preschool at Bowman. She is a graduate of Mason High School (class of 2004) and she earned a bachelor's degree from Mount Vernon Nazarene University and a master's degree in education from Wright State University. She previously worked for the Warren County Educational Service Center, the Southern Ohio Educational Service Center, and for Wilmington City Schools. She lives in Blanchester with her husband and three kids aged 5, 7, and 11. She enjoys spending time with her family, cheering on her kids at their baseball and softball games, and running.

  • Mary 'AnnaLe' Gausman, Secretary to the Treasurer, Central Office -  Mary AnnaLe (she goes by AnnaLe and it is pronounced Anna-Lee) comes to Lebanon with 20 years of experience in the accounting and financial field. She began working as Secretary to the Treasurer earlier this summer. She earned an Associates Degree in Information Technology from ITT Tech. Her past experience includes working as an expense payables analyst and supervisor for Macy's Inc. in Sharonville and working as an accounts payable coordinator for Total Quality Logistics in Eastgate. She lives in Maineville with her wife and their two children, Maddox and Lynkin. They have a dog, Kora, and a couple of cats. They love to travel and experience new places. Welcome AnnaLe! 

  • Erica Geyer, Speech and Language Pathologist - Mrs. Geyer will be a Speech and Language Pathologist next school year. She comes to Lebanon after having experience in the private sector: she previously worked in the Speech and Hearing Clinic at the University of Cincinnati, for Therapy Works, and for the Community Action Agency. She is also a certified Spanish medical interpreter. She said she fell in love with working with students during her past experiences at Mason City Schools and during last school year at Lebanon Junior High. She earned a bachelor's degree from DePaul University and a master's degree from the University of Cincinnati. She lives with her husband Doug, three kids, and two dogs in Mason. 

  • Lindsay Gorman, Intervention Specialist, Donovan Elementary - Lindsay is coming to Lebanon after teaching for seven years in Cincinnati Public Schools at William Howard Taft Elementary. She has an undergraduate degree in communication science and disorders from Ohio University. This degree typically leads to a career in speech and language therapy or audiology, but Mrs. Gorman found her passion working in education when she served as a substitute teacher for students with disabilities. She then earned a master's degree in special education from the University of Cincinnati. Both of her parents were teachers, as were her aunts and grandmothers. Lindsay lives in Middletown with her husband Tom and their dog Ivy. They love spending time outdoors, especially hiking and traveling. She is originally from Lima.

  • Audrey McClure, Special Education Aide, Berry Intermediate

  • Evan Oatman, 5th Grade Teacher, Berry Intermediate - Mr. Oatman will be a fifth grade teacher at Berry Intermediate this coming school year. He is coming to Lebanon after teaching for six years at Winton Woods Elementary Schools as a reading and social studies teacher. He is a 2012 graduate of Lakota West High School and earned his bachelor's degree from Ohio University. He lives with his wife in Liberty Township with their daughter Mila and dog Coco. He enjoys spending time with his family, watching and playing sports, and reading.

  • Christina Riddick, Special Education Aide, Donovan Elementary

  • Eve Robinson, American Sign Language Teacher, Lebanon High School - ASL is a brand new course at the high school this coming school year. Ms. Robinson comes to Lebanon City Schools after teaching American Sign Language as a long-term substitute in the Lakota Local School District. Prior to her year at Lakota, she taught at St. Rita School for the Deaf for four years. Ms. Robinson is a native Texan who began her teaching career in Austin. She worked at the Texas School for the Deaf in the Special Needs Department for five years before moving to the West Chester area in 2017. Ms. Robinson holds a bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education from the University of Texas at Austin, and a master’s of education degree with a focus in Special Education from Xavier University. Outside of school, Ms. Robinson enjoys being an aunt and spending time with her two young nieces in Centerville. She loves to travel, and can rarely be found in Ohio during school breaks and holidays! She is eager to establish the ASL program at Lebanon High School and is excited to watch the program grow.

  • Amber Schmelick, Intervention Specialist, Bowman Primary - Mrs. Schmelick comes to Lebanon after teaching in the Hamilton City School District where she worked as an Early Childhood Intervention Specialist. This coming school year she will work as an Intervention Specialist with preschool-aged students at Bowman Primary. She earned bachelor's and master's degrees in early childhood education from Wright State University - she is dually certified in general education and special education for grades preschool through third. She lives in Springboro with her husband, Steve, and their son, Joey, along with their dog, Cody.

  • Megan Schneider, 2nd Grade Teacher, Bowman Primary - Mrs. Schneider will join the staff at Bowman this coming school year as a new second grade teacher. She comes to Lebanon after teaching first grade in Hamilton City Schools for six years. She earned an early childhood education degree from Miami University. Both her and her husband are originally from Fairfield. They moved to Lebanon in 2020 because they were drawn to its historic charm, excellent school district and strong sense of community, she said. Their daughter just turned one, and they're excited for her to grow up in Lebanon. Welcome, Megan!

  • Jeanne Sewell, Food Service Worker, Lebanon High School

  • Kristine Starcher, Special Education Aide, Bowman Primary

  • Bailey Webb, Building Substitute Teacher, Bowman Primary - Bailey is originally from Los Angeles, California. Her husband is in the United State Air Force and is stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. They currently live in Mason with their dog, Finn. Prior to moving to Ohio they lived in Germany for nine months and have traveled to more than 20 countries! Mrs. Webb earned a K-6 teaching certificate while she lived in California and has gained a year of teaching experience in general and special education classrooms. She earned a bachelor's degree in liberal studies from California State Polytechnic University. Welcome Bailey! Note: Building substitute teachers cover classrooms when teachers are absent from school for illness or professional development. Having building subs guarantees quality coverage for classrooms when teachers are absent and helps create consistency and comfort for students because they get to know the building subs and the building subs get to know them.  

  • Jenni Wallace, Intervention Specialist, Lebanon Junior High - For the last three years, Mrs. Wallace has worked at Sycamore Junior High School as a special education teacher and co-taught in 7th and 8th grade language arts classrooms. She's joining the staff at Lebanon Junior High this coming school year as an Intervention Specialist. Prior to teaching in the Sycamore district, Mrs. Wallace taught at Kettering High School and at Salem Township Elementary in the Little Miami School District. Both her and her husband, Will, grew up in Lebanon and a year ago they bought a house here. They have a one year old daughter named Isla, and two dogs, Karlie and Winnie. "As a teacher, I believe in being involved in the community where I teach. I like to go to sporting events, cheer on my students, and get involved. Working in the district where I live allows me to do just that," she said. She earned a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Cincinnati. She enjoys running and hiking, and she is an avid reader. 

  • Katie Wright, Special Education Aide, Lebanon High School

  • Jacqueline Yarbrough, 3rd Grade Teacher, Donovan Elementary - Mrs. Yarbrough has been teaching since 2015. She taught second grade and then moved to third grade before taking time off to complete graduate school. She will be joining the staff at Donovan Elementary as a third grade teacher this coming school year. She attended Wright State University and earned a bachelor's of science in early childhood education, and she earned a master's in education in school counseling from Grand Canyon University. She has experience serving as a substitute teacher, most recently substituting in second grade at Donovan. Coming from a family of teachers instilled a love of volunteering and working with kids, she said. She is married to Coty and they have two dogs, Winnie and Max. Welcome Jacqueline!
