LHS offering PSAT test to 11th graders Oct. 12
On Saturday, October 12th, Lebanon High School will be offering the PSAT test to any 11th grade student who is enrolled in Lebanon City Schools at either Lebanon High School, the Warren County Career Center, or the Warren County Alternative School. While any 11th grade student is allowed to sign up to take this test, it is recommended for students who are planning on attending college.
What is the PSAT?
The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a program co-sponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). It's a standardized test providing first-hand practice for the SAT®. It also gives you a chance to enter NMSQT scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools. In addition, many colleges and universities use the results from the PSAT to help make decisions for their own programs and internal scholarship awards. For more information about the PSAT go to: www.collegeboard.org
Lebanon City Schools will again be covering the cost of the PSAT for our students who sign up to take the test. The district will also take care of the necessary registration steps. You DO NOT have to register for this test with College Board on your own.
When will the PSAT be given?
The PSAT will be administered on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. Students should arrive at least 15 minutes early. The testing room locations at LHS will be announced once it is determined how many students will be testing. The testing should be completed at approximately 11:30 a.m. Testing times for students with or without accommodations are listed below. Due to a new on-line format, PSAT times are approximations.
-
PSAT Regular Time -- 9:00-11:30 a.m.
-
PSAT 50% Extended Time -- 9:00-12:25 p.m.
-
PSAT 100% Extended Time or Read Aloud -- 9:00 a.m.-1:40 p.m.
What is the deadline to sign up for the PSAT?
Students must sign up on this PSAT Google Form that will be sent to their school email no later than Wednesday, August 28th. Reminder announcements will be made at school as well.
What should I bring on test day?
BRING YOUR FULLY CHARGED CHROMEBOOK, #2 pencils, and a calculator on testing day. While every math question can be solved without using a calculator, we suggest you bring one with which you are familiar. Please note, you are NOT permitted to use calculators on cell phones per PSAT rules.
