VLA update and wonderopolis.org
It seems that VLA will now allow access and display content and questions. The issue is with saving student work.
I think a good work-around for this while VLA staff work to fix the issue is to type/record answers either on paper or in a google doc. Using a google doc is nice because then answers can be pasted into VLA for saving at a later time. I know this isn't ideal, but I think it's better than a student losing work. Also, saving after just a question or two is a good way to know if the system is going to kick you out or not.
I'm sorry for these issues. The VLA staff has told us they are working diligently to correct them.
Reminder- anytime that VLA doesn't capture work time, just add that time as offline hours. It seems like today will be a day that VLA won't capture worktime correctly.
On another note, our district technology integration specialist, Melanie Zolnier, shared a website with our staff today that I think may be of interest to you and your students. The site is wonderopolis.org. Each day, the site poses an intriguing question—the Wonder of the Day®—and explores it in a variety of ways. There are 1000's of wonders to explore, and it might be a good site for students to visit if additional offline hours are needed, or if they're just curious about something.
Thank you,
