Update from LJHS 4/8/2020
Good Afternoon LJHS Parents,
I hope the second week of Remote Learning is going well for your students. This has been a challenging transition for everyone and we hope that you and your student have the resources needed to be successful. As we encounter new challenges along the way, we appreciate your patience and understanding while we find solutions. Here are a few reminders and new items I have to share with you since our last communication.
- Communicating with Teachers- Now more than ever, it is important for you to establish a line of communication with teachers. If your student is struggling with the online work, if they are having difficulty accessing the resources, or if they are spending more than the required 90 minutes per week per subject area, please reach out to the teacher. Here is a link to the staff directory to make your communication easier.
- Shared Links- I have shared many links with you over the past few weeks. I have consolidated those links to one tab on our school website. You can find those links by visiting this link.
- Requesting a Device- If your child does not have a device they can use at home, it is not too late to request a loaner device. Visit this link and fill out the form to find out if you are eligible for a loaner device.
- Food Pickup- Food pick-ups will continue weekly on Tuesdays from 4 - 5:30 pm at Berry Intermediate School and on Fridays from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm at Countryside YMCA. The food is designated for those students and families in need. Thank you to all of our volunteers, Joshua’s Place and all individuals and organizations who continue to make donations.
- Washington DC Trip Planning Meeting for Current 7th Grade Parents Cancelled- The Washington DC Trip meeting scheduled for later this month for current 7th graders is cancelled. It will be rescheduled for a future date. For planning purposes, here is some information you may find helpful. The tour dates for the trip will be May 12–15, 2021. This is an excellent opportunity for students to visit the hub of our American heritage and government. Our staff will chaperone the tour which will be arranged by Classic Student Tours, a local agency that specializes in Educational Student Travel Programs (www.classicstudenttours.com). They have planned our tour since 1996.
The cost of the travel program per student, based on quad occupancy and the following number of paying persons per motor coach is:
44 - 47 students per motor coach $688.00
40 - 43 students per motor coach $710.00
36 - 39 students per motor coach $740.00
32 - 35 students per motor coach $775.00
